Car bomb at church injures 16 in Iraq

A CAR bomb exploded near a Catholic Church in northern Iraq yesterday, injuring at least 16 people in part of a co-ordinated attack on Christian places of worship in the ethnically-mixed city of Kirkuk, a senior police official said.

Police also found car bombs near two other churches in Kirkuk, but defused them before they exploded, the city's deputy police chief Major-Geneneral Torhan Abdulrahman said.
