Car alarms 'most irritating tech'

CAR alarms have been voted the most irritating piece of technology ever invented.

The screeching sirens beat the dreaded egg timer that appears on computer screens when information is loading.

Computers in general came third in the poll of 5,000 people, while speed cameras were fourth.

Unhelpful and illogical automated phone systems, which leave Brits confused, came fifth.

A spokesman for PhonePiggyBank.com said: "'Car alarms can be the bane of many people's lives – waking them up, or stopping them from nodding off at night."
