Capital set for cycle demo

CYCLISTS from the Capital are being encouraged to take part in a demonstration calling for more funding to be put towards “active travel”.

Local campaign group Spokes is backing the demonstration, organised by Stop Climate Chaos Scotland, which is expected to see hundreds of cyclists turn up at St Andrew’s House, Regent Road, on Wednesday, January 11.

The campaign aims to encourage MSPs to call for “adequate” funding for active travel, such as walking and cycling, which currently gets less than one per cent of the country’s overall transport budget.

The demonstration, which starts at 1pm, comes ahead of a vote on the final Scottish budget.
