Capital scoops best city in Europe award

CITY leaders have collected the award for the best small city in Europe.

Councillor Tom Buchanan, the city's economic development leader, picked up the award at a property event in Cannes, France, yesterday.

The award was given by the Financial Times' fDi Magazine after judges assessed seven categories, including economic potential, quality of life and business friendliness.

Edinburgh also came out on top in the "best economic potential" category, where GDP growth, employment growth and economic sentiment were assessed.

Cllr Buchanan said: "Winning this title helps to ensure that Edinburgh remains at the forefront of decision-makers' minds."
