Capital restaurants replete with praise after gold wins

TWO Edinburgh restaurants have taken gold at a top industry awards ceremony.

Monteiths restaurant and Cucina were recognised at the annual Hi-Life Dining Awards, attended by chefs and restaurateurs from across the UK and Ireland.

Monteiths picked up the award for Best Scotland Restaurant, while Cucina won the Best-Dressed Restaurant category.

The winners were voted for by the dining public before the awards ceremony in Manchester hosted by Krypton Factor and BBC North West Tonight presenter Gordon Burns.

Lisa Lund, Hi-Life's commercial director, said: "The calibre of entries this year has been exceptionally high with lots of new restaurants taking part."

A silent auction and raffle raised over 7000 for the NSPCC.
