Capital house sales slump

HOUSE sales in the Capital were the third lowest in the UK last month, in contrast to increases across Scotland.

The number of properties sold in Edinburgh slumped by 23.6 per cent, compared with Glasgow where they went up by 32.5 per cent, according to the Agency Express Property Activity Index.

However, the number of properties being put up for sale in Edinburgh were up by 11.8 per cent, compared with 0.3 per cent in Glasgow. Altogether, Scotland had the largest monthly increase in the UK.

Stephen Watson, managing director of Agency Express, said: "With the likelihood of interest rates staying low and the number of properties coming to market looking healthy, it should mean house prices and affordability will remain stable, so it's still a good time to move."
