Cannabis found in suitcase

POLICE recovered £46,000 worth of herbal cannabis after searching a coach at St Andrew Square Bus Station and finding an unclaimed suitcase packed with the drug.

The search was carried out as part of Operation Advance, an ongoing crackdown aimed at targeting suspected Yardie gangsters involved in peddling crack from the Leith area.

Around 200 people underwent searches at the bus station between 6.30am and 9am on Friday, with council and bus company officials working with police officers.

During a search of a coach that had travelled from London, an unclaimed suitcase was seized and examined. Around eight kilos of herbal cannabis were found within.
