Campaign set to highlight violence against women

AN international awareness campaign highlighting violence against women and children is to be launched in the Capital.

The Edinburgh Violence Against Women Partnership, which includes the city council, police, NHS Lothian, Scottish Courts Service, criminal justice department and voluntary groups, will hold 16 days of action from this Friday. The local campaign is to mark the international 16 days of action opposing violence against women, also starting on Friday.

Councillor Paul Edie, chair of the Edinburgh Community Safety Partnership, said: “We hope this campaign across the 16 days sends out a clear message that there is no place in today’s society for violence against women or children.”
