Cameo eyes a long lease

THE owner of the Cameo cinema is to be granted an extension to its lease.

City Screen Ltd rents a former shop at 8 Lochrin Place from the city council and uses it as a 65-seat cinema screen that forms part of the wider complex.

The lease has been continuing on a year-to-year basis at a rate of 8600 per annum, but City Screen wants to extend the lease until March 2059. Rent will rise from an initial 11,000 a year to 13,000 from April 2014 and 15,000 from April 2019.

Councillors are expected to approve the deal next week.
