Call to scrap phone mast

Plans for a new phone mast in the west of the city look set to be rejected.

Vodafone and O2 lodged a planning application for a 15-metre monopole supporting an antenna for an area of grass close to the entrance to Balerno on Lanark Road West.

Planning officials have recommended that the plans are rejected on the basis that the small batch of green belt land helps separate the "distinct settlements" of Currie and Balerno.
