Call to clean litter mess

Calls have been made to clean up a park in Colinton that has suffered from major litter problems.

Colinton/Fairmilehead councillor Jason Rust has raised concerns with the city council's director of services for communities, Mark Turley, about the state of Spylaw Park, following a series of complaints.

Cllr Rust said: "We are celebrating the centenary of the park this year and by the end of the year there will be improvements from tree planting to play equipment and new notice and information boards.

"It would therefore be a travesty if all this is put to waste by litter strewn across the park.

"The council require to find a permanent solution."
