Call for talks on concordat

OPPOSITION councillors today urged the city council to renew talks with the Scottish Government about the local government "concordat".

The agreements between councils and the Scottish Government cover class sizes, school buildings and support for carers.

But at a recent meeting, Unison representative Kevin Duguid said the concordat "restricts local government and is not delivering".

Cllr Andrew Burns, leader of the Labour group on the city council, added: "The SNP's concordat is failing local government."
