Call to heed suicide signs

A CAMPAIGN has been launched in the Capital to mark Suicide Prevention Week.

Last year, 60 people in Edinburgh took their own lives, and the Read Between the Lines campaign calls on people to be alert to the warning signs.

Professor Alex McMahon, of NHS Lothian, said: “If you have the slightest inclination that someone you know might be having thoughts of suicide, to ask them about it.”

A service for those touched by suicide will take place at Augustine United Church, George IV Bridge, on September 16 at 3pm.
