Call goes out for examples of red tape

EDINBURGH companies are urged to join a review of red tape by sending in examples of the burdens of bureaucracy.

The UK coalition government has appealed to small firms to provide details of unnecessary bureaucracy which could be cut to make it easier for them to operate.

Edinburgh West MP Mike Crockart said: "Too often in the past, people starting their own companies have had to jump through hoops just to get their businesses off the ground.

"Starting and running a small business or voluntary organisation is challenging enough without Government making life more difficult.

"The coalition has made a commitment to cut red tape and make it easier for people to establish new businesses, voluntary groups or charities.

"I would encourage anyone who has been frustrated by excessive bureaucracy in the past to report it this review."
