Call for report about graffiti

CONCERNS have been raised about graffiti in the Craigentinny/Duddingston area.

Local councillor Ewan Aitken has called for a report detailing the amount of graffiti discovered in the last two years, as well as details of action taken to prevent it.

In a motion to next week's meeting of the Craigentinny/Duddingston Neighbourhood Partnership, he said many residents believed that, unless a "zero tolerance" approach is taken, graffiti can spark other forms of antisocial behaviour.

Cllr Aitken said: "My concern is that things like anti-graffiti action will be moved down the priority list as the SNP/Lib Dem cuts bite. But it is a short-term "win" that could mean a long-term loss for communities."
