Cairn founder in board shift

SIR Bill Gammell, founder of Edinburgh-based oil firm Cairn Energy, is to become non-executive chairman of the group in a boardroom reshuffle.

He will be succeeded as chief executive by legal and commercial director Simon Thomson, leapfrogging deputy chief executive Mike Watts. Finance director Jann Brown will also become managing director.
