Caesarean timing study

HEALTH chiefs in Lothian are to begin officially recording how long it takes women in need of an emergency caesarean to go under the knife.

As it stands, the 30-minute "decision to incision" timeframe isn't formally recorded.

But following a report by the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman into a woman whose child was born with disabilities after an emergency caesarean, NHS Lothian has vowed to begin analysing the data in coming months.
