Cadets mark centenary at school parade

CADETS from Loretto School in Musselburgh were taking part in a centenary parade at the school yesterday.

Originally founded as the Officer Training Corps in 1910, cadets have been an important part of the school ever since.

To mark the occasion, the school held a Service of Thanksgiving, with the address given by Reverend Dr David Coulter, a former chaplain at the school.

Pupils welcomed the General Officer Commanding Scotland, Major General David Shaw, to take the salute at the centenary parade and present each of the cadets with a specially commissioned badge.

There was also a series of displays from teams in the regular army, Royal Navy and Royal Marines.
