Cable sparks worry over green bank

EDINBURGH South Labour MP Ian Murray has voiced disappointment over a failure by Vince Cable to back the Capital as the home of the Green Investment Bank.

Mr Murray said the Business Secretary was non-committal about the location of the new bank when he asked about it in the Commons, despite previous encouraging noises from Scottish Secretary Michael Moore.

Mr Murray said Edinburgh had the expertise reputation required: "The highly skilled Edinburgh workforce, in both the financial and new technologies sectors, gives an unparalleled opportunity for the Green Investment Bank.

"There is a real opportunity to show that the Green Investment Bank is different and fresh. Locating it in the City of London would, in my view, send out the wrong message."
