Byatt booked for festival

Booker Prize-winning author AS Byatt is set to appear at this year's Edinburgh International Book Festival.

Byatt will be talking about her first book for seven years, The Children's Book, on Friday, August 20, at 10am. An internationally recognised novelist, short story writer and critic, her previous novel, Possession: A Romance, earned her the 1990 Man Booker Prize for Fiction.

Nick Barley, director of the Edinburgh International Book Festival, said: "We are delighted to welcome such a prestigious author to Charlotte Square Gardens."
