Butcher eyes meaty success

TOP city butchers Crombies are competing for several gongs at the prestigious Smithfield Awards for excellence in butchery next month.

The Broughton Street butchers, famed for their sausages, are hoping to make their mark in 12 categories at the Butchers' Hall event in London on November 9.

Triple Michelin-starred chef Heston Blumenthal will present this year's awards for products entered into the Product Evaluation. Leading butchers from across the UK will be present.

In anticipation of the award, Jonathan Crombie, said the store has more choice than ever. He said: "We have new varieties of sausages and we'll be holding tastings at Broughton Street."
