Bust up with wife puts man in cells on Valentine's Day

A HUSBAND spent Valentines Day in the cells after a spectacular bust up with his wife the previous night.

After drinking all day with his beloved, Robert Ronaldson told her he wanted to end their seven-month marriage.

His tearful wife Karen called her dad to collect her and her possessions from the marital home they shared in West Calder, West Lothian.

But when she tried to go back into the house to pick up one last handbag, her husband pushed her out and locked the door behind her.

Shamefaced Ronaldson, 46, appeared from custody at Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday and pled guilty to assaulting his wife on February 13.

Sheriff Graeme Fleming said the offence was the very lowest possible level of assault.

Admonishing Ronaldson, he commented: "It is not acceptable behaviour and I don't want you to go away thinking it is.

"I regard it as sufficient to give you a warning."
