Business park gets go-ahead

THE first phase of a multi-million-pound business park planned to be built near Inverness airport over the next 50 years was approved by councillors yesterday.

Highland Council's Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey planning committee voted in favour of the plan, which will see office and general business space developed. The site will eventually include business, industrial, retail, leisure and hotel and conference space on 345,235sq m of land.

Phase one will the require developers, Inverness Airport Business Park, to carry out road improvements.

The site forms part of the Inverness to Nairn A96 corridor, earmarked as an area for major development. Planning permission has previously been granted for a rail halt near the airport.
