Business chiefs back emissions initiative

THE Capital's business leaders have welcomed a new plan by the Scottish Government to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

The Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce said it would help promote the Low Carbon Engagement Strategy, but warned that only with "significant public support" would targets be achievable.

Graham Bell, a spokesman for the Chamber of Commerce, said: "As partners with the Scottish Government in this year's first Low Carbon Investment Conference, we have already shown our commitment to bringing the business community into play in achieving climate change targets.

"We will continue to promote the agenda and to promote Edinburgh and Scotland as significant destinations for inward investment to lead the global market in renewable energy. Like all great challenges the potential rewards are well worth the effort."
