Bus passenger badly hurt

A MAN was in a critical condition in hospital after the bus he was on crashed with a car.

Ten other passengers received minor injuries, with five treated at hospital.

The driver of the car was in a stable condition after the Ford Mondeo and Mercedes bus crashed in Glasgow Road in Port Glasgow, Inverclyde, on Thursday.

Police said the 58-year-old bus passenger was seriously injured and was being treated at Inverclyde Royal Hospital in Greenock. The crash happened at about 2:20pm.

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said: "The 22-year-old driver of the Mondeo car was also taken to the Inverclyde Royal Hospital suffering from leg injuries. Glasgow Road was closed to traffic for approximately six hours."

She added: "A 22-year-old man has been arrested and will be the subject of a report to the procurator-fiscal in connection with the incident."
