Bus company is up for five UK awards

NATIONAL tourism agency VisitScotland has appointed a new chief executive - and he will be paid £21,000 less than his predecessor.

The council-owned bus firm was selected from 200 entries from across the UK, and has been shortlisted in the City Operator of the Year category and for the Environment Award, the Infrastructure Award and the Accessibility Award.

The company's engineering director, Bill Devlin, has been nominated for the Engineer of the Year Award.

Ian Craig, Lothian Buses' managing director said: "To be nominated for so many awards at this prestigious event is a credit to all our staff.

"The UK Bus Awards are the highest accolade in the country and if we walk away with any of the silverware in November this will be such an encouraging boost for all of my colleagues."

The winners will be announced at London's Hilton Hotel on November 16.S
