Burst pipe forces chef into new restaurant

ONE of Scotland's top chefs has been forced to move his customers after a burst water pipe put his £1 million restaurant beyond repair.

Steven Adair, chef and owner of The Glasshouse at Eskmills, Musselburgh, moved his business to St Giles Street, off the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, because a burst pipe on 2 February wrecked his restaurant.

The Glasshouse was Adair's first solo venture after working at The Tower at the Museum of Scotland and The Gallery in the Weston Link. He also cooked for the Queen's 80th birthday.

A spokeswoman for the chef said: "The cost of repairs was too much so we decided to close. We are all devastated."

A statement on the restaurant's website and phone stated:

"Steven Adair is sorry to let the Glasshouse at Eskmills go and hopes to see you soon in Edinburgh."
