'Burglars' crash into police car

THREE suspected burglars have been caught as they fled from an alleged house breaking - because they crashed into a police car.

The alleged raid, which took place in the Murrayfield area of the city early yesterday, saw three men scared off by the homeowner, who woke up when he heard someone in his house, called the police, and ran downstairs to challenge them.

The men then allegedly jumped into their stolen getaway car, only to drive straight into a police car which was racing to respond to the 999 call.

Three men, aged 18, 19 and 20, were set to appear in court this morning.
