Brush up on oral health

CONCERNS have been raised for the oral health of Edinburgh residents after it was claimed that almost half do not brush their teeth every day.

Consumer research carried out by the Simplyhealth Advisory Research Panel (ShARP) also found that four in ten admit to using someone else’s toothbrush.

But the panel said that most worrying revelation was that 53 per cent of those from Edinburgh surveyed noticed blood in their spit after brushing.

A spokesperson said: “Bleeding gums is a major sign of gum disease and should not be ignored.”
