Brown welcomes tenants to homes development

HOUSING Minister Keith Brown was today welcoming tenants to their homes at a new £5 million development in Abbeyhill.

Hillcrest Housing Association has built 36 flats for social rent on the site of the former Methodist Church in Lower London Road.

The building is bold architecturally, with six storeys of blue brick, natural timber cladding and large areas of glazing to break up the large scale of the building. Mr Brown said: “Everyone in Scotland should live in a safe, warm, affordable home that meets their needs and contributes to a sustainable community.

“Investment in new affordable housing, such as this development by Hillcrest, can boost our economy through the direct impact on construction and related jobs, as well as making homes available for families and individuals.”
