Brown gets lift from £7m steps project

Transport Minister Keith Brown yesterday cut the ribbon on the official reopening of the Waverley Steps.

The £7 million refurbishment project has seen six new escalators, shielded from the elements by a glass panel ceiling, installed at the Princes Street entrance. Lifts have also been installed to aid entrance to the busy station, used by an estimated 14,000 people a day.

Meanwhile, the Market Street entrance has been fitted with a new glass and steel canopy to protect users of Platform’s eight and nine from inclement weather.
