Britannica goes digital for schools

A DIGITAL version of the Encyclopaedia Britannica is being made available to every school in Scotland for free.

Every primary and secondary school will have free access to the digital resource until the end of October.

Bosses hope the package, which has been specially created for schools, will let students and teachers “rediscover” Britannica – founded in Edinburgh in 1768 – in the digital age.

They claim that the online school edition has been designed to make sure that students can research safely without accessing inappropriate or factually inaccurate material.

Ian Grant, managing director of Encyclopaedia Britannica UK, said: “Britannica holds a special place in Scottish history and education, and we’re extremely proud to be returning to our roots and inspiring a new generation.”
