Bridge plunge driver named

THE driver of a fuel lorry killed in an accident on the A9 in Perthshire has been named by police as John Raeside, 54, of Kirkintilloch.

Mr Raeside died on Thursday when his articulated lorry jack-knifed while crossing Coronation Bridge at Faskally, near Pitlochry.

The cab of the tanker collided with the bridge parapet and was broken off from the trailer by the impact. The cab, with Mr Raeside trapped inside, plunged about 40ft into Loch Faskally below.

Mr Raeside was employed by Motherwell-based Brogan Fuels. A spokesman for the company described Mr Raeside as a "first-class worker and friend to everyone".
