Breast milk clinics open

NEW breastfeeding clinics have been launched across the Lothians to encourage mothers to consider its benefits.

As part of World Breastfeeding Awareness Week NHS Lothian is urging more women to breastfeed, even though the health board already has the highest rates in the country.

Five venues which are open four days a week provide help and advice for new mothers unsure of breastfeeding.

Karla Napier, infant feeding advisor for NHS Lothian, said: "It is important that mothers across the Lothians are aware of the services available to them, so that they can give their babies the best possible start.

"The clinics provide a safety net for women to talk about these problems with someone impartial."
