Boys charged in sex case

THREE teenage boys have been charged over allegations that a 13-year-old girl had sex in exchange for a cigarette.

The incident, which was thought to have taken place in a flat on 12 January, involved pupils at a Dundee school.

Local Labour councillor George Regan said that the rise of online social networking sites had fuelled concerns about the girl's name circulating on the internet.

He said: "This is the problem with Facebook and other sites. Once information is up there on the web, it is very hard to get it down. This girl's name is all over the internet and she can't do anything about it. It's a dreadful situation."

A police spokesman said: "I can confirm three young males have been charged in relation to this incident and a report has been submitted to the fiscal."

The boys are understood to have been charged with "sexual offences".
