Boyack in safer streets vow

Edinburgh Central Labour MSP Sarah Boyack has claimed tough new plans announced by her party to crack down on antisocial behaviour will make the Capital's streets safer.

Labour outlined a five-point action plan, including a crackdown on problem neighbours and drink banning orders which could stop people going to pubs or off-licences.

Ms Boyack said: "Feedback from constituents indicates that antisocial behaviour continues to be a problem in communities across Edinburgh.

"People are fed-up, but all too often incidents go unreported because they don't think anything will get done.

"We need to work hard to change that perception by ensuring that common problems such as noisy and threatening neighbours do not take years to be addressed. We need to make sure that measures are in place to allow the police and the council to respond more effectively to the large number of incidents that happen regularly and to deal with people who cause disorder on our streets."
