Boyack hits out at SNP

Edinburgh Central Labour MSP Sarah Boyack today called on the Scottish Government to listen to parents' and teachers' concerns about education.

Her call comes ahead of three ministerial visits to the constituency by Education Secretary Mike Russell.

Ms Boyack said: "The SNP has presided over a term of letdowns and broken promises on education. Budgets are so tight that schools can't afford adequate cover for staff absence.

"Teachers are having to pay for class materials and fundraising has been diverted to pay for core curricular activities."
