Boy injured in attack on his house

A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy needed hospital treatment after he was injured in an attack on his home, police said today.

The child was with his 31-year-old mother when an object was thrown through the front window of their home in Haughburn Road, in Pollok, Glasgow, on Saturday night.

A second object, which had been set alight, was thrown at the entrance door, causing minor fire and smoke damage.

The boy suffered minor cuts from glass and was taken to Glasgow's Southern General Hospital and discharged after treatment.

No-one was seriously injured in the incident, which happened at about 11:10pm on Saturday.

Police are treating the incident as attempted murder and believe a group of young men may have carried out the attack.

Detective Sergeant Wilson Davidson said: "We believe that a group of male youths may have been responsible. However, we are not clear exactly how many were involved - all we know is that they were wearing dark clothing and described as aged between 20 and 25 years of age."

He appealed for anyone who may have seen or heard what happened to get in touch.

There were three other family members inside the house at the time of the incident.
