Boy in hospital after collision

A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy was in hospital last night after he was knocked down on a busy stretch of road.

The victim is thought to have been struck by a car on Prestonfield Avenue in the centre of Edinburgh.

Paramedics raced the boy to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children just after 5:30pm to be treated for head injuries.

An ambulance spokesman said: "We transported a nine-year-old boy who had been knocked down to the Sick Kids Hospital, suffering from head injuries.

"The injuries are not thought to be life threatening."
