Boy dies after being hit by car

A YOUNG boy has died after he was hit by a car while crossing a road with a friend. The eight-year-old was crossing the A414 in Maldon, East Essex, at about 2:30pm on Saturday, when he was hit by a Porsche driven by a 31-year-old man, police said.

He was taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, where he later died. The driver and a passenger were arrested on suspicion of reckless driving.
