Boy charged with stealing lead from roof

A 15-YEAR-OLD boy and two others have been charged with stealing lead from the roof of the old Tynecastle High School building.

Police sealed off nearby McLeod Street for an hour on Thursday evening amid reports the trio were threatening to throw themselves off the 60ft high roof.

Two males - aged 17 and 18 - were also charged in connection with the theft.

All three teenagers managed to safely lower themselves from the building and were soon arrested.

It is understood the teenagers were reported to the police at 5pm after they were seen "acting in a foolish manner" and "sliding around on top of the roof".
