Boy aged 6 pulled out of pool dies

A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy who got into difficulties in a Scottish caravan park's swimming pool has died.

Paramedics found Aiden Sands unconscious when called to the park in Arbroath, Angus, on Saturday. He was taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, in a critical condition but died at around midday yesterday.

It is understood the inquiry into his death will look into whether the Dundee youngster had any underlying medical condition.

A Tayside Police spokesman said: "An investigation by Angus Council's environmental health section and Tayside Police is ongoing and, as with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."

In a statement, released on behalf of his parents, Aiden's grandfather Thomas Hay said: "Aiden died in the loving arms of his parents Mandy Sands and Kevin Yule.

"His parents would like to thank the gentleman who assisted Aiden at the poolside with first aid and CPR and the ambulance team and officers of Tayside Police who assisted in getting Aiden to Ninewells Hospital as quickly as possible.

"The family would now like time to grieve in peace."
