Bottle of Glenlivet sells for £18,750

A RARE bottle of whisky distilled in 1883 and bottled in 1931 has been sold at auction at Bonhams in Edinburgh.

The Glenlivet was originally owned by Captain William Smith Grant, great-grandson of Col George Smith, who founded the Glenlivet Distillery near Ballindalloch, Banffshire, and had been in the family since. It sold for £18,750 yesterday, including buyer’s premium.
