Booze project asks young

CHILDREN could be consulted more on alcohol abuse following a successful Scottish Government project.

It is estimated that thousands of youngsters across the Lothians have their lives blighted by the alcoholism of either one of their parents or of a close relative. Public health minister Shona Robison said the opinions of children on how to address the country's battle with drink were crucial for shaping future policy.

She said: "Too many young people are suffering and seeing their life opportunities limited because of their parents' excessive drinking."

The Framework for Action project brought together a forum of youngsters to debate issues earlier this week.
