Bootcamp helps burn off calories

A NEW business aimed at helping people to get into shape is to be launched in Edinburgh before the end of the year.

Burn It Bootcamp was created in June by West Lothian entrepreneurs, John Laurie and Paul Duffy, after they received an inquiry from a local business about designing and delivering a group fitness camp.

Mr Laurie, a former gym general manager and business graduate, and Mr Duffy, a fitness instructor, are operating the business - which encourages people to get active outdoors - in Livingston, Bathgate and Linlithgow.

They also plan to expand to Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Falkirk and Stirling, through both corporate camps and individual evening classes.

Mr Duffy said: "Boot camps are often organised outdoors in parks using body weight exercises including push-ups, squats, suspension training and burpees, interspersed with running and competitive games.

"The idea is that everyone involved works at their own pace as they team up and work towards one goal."
