Bookie's new site a safe bet

BETTING chain William Hill is to open a new shop in a former off-licence in the Southside.

The company has sealed a long-term lease of the former Victoria Wine outlet on Nicolson Street.

It beat off competition from dozens of local and national retailers to secure the unit, at a rent of 26,000 a year.

Will Biggart, surveyor at property firm Ryden, which acted for the private landlord of the unit, said: "We received around 70 inquiries from both local and national retailers into this unit."
