Book tells of palace fit for the Queen

A CHILDREN’S book about the Palace of Holyroodhouse has been released to mark the Diamond Jubilee.

The illustrated work, produced by the Royal Collection, tells the 500-year history of the Queen’s official residence in Scotland. The tale is told by a palace warden, who explains the story to two children, telling them about the kings and queens who lived there and how the palace is used today.

Kings, Queens and a Scottish Lion by Leah Kharibian covers everything from how King James IV built a royal zoo for his many wild beasts to the murder of David Rizzio, secretary to Mary, Queen of Scots.

Alison Campbell, learning manager at the palace, said: “We are delighted to present this book on Her Majesty The Queen’s official home in Scotland in time to mark the Diamond Jubilee.”
