Bogus caller cons OAP he took to bank

Police are urging residents in West Lothian to stay vigilant after a bogus caller incident in Linlithgow.

About 10.15am on Friday, January 13, a man called at a property in Springfield Road claiming he was there to check the roof from “health and safety”, and went on to produce a flyer for DK Property & Maintenance.

After checking the loft space, the man said work needed to be done, and that he would take the elderly homeowner to a bank to get money to pay for this.

After the man handed over a four-figure sum of money, the suspect drove off in his van.

Door-to-door enquiries have been carried out in the local area, and any CCTV opportunities are being explored.

The suspect is described as being white, around 19-years-old, 5ft 9ins tall, of slim build, with mousey-brown hair, dark hair and a local accent.

There were two other men in the van with him.
