Body of quad bike teen is flown home

THE body of a teenager who died in a quad bike accident in Greece is back on Scottish soil after thousands of pounds were raised to repatriate his remains.

Friends and family of James Waddell, 18, who was struck by a taxi after falling from his quad bike on 20 June, held several fundraising events to help return the former Forrester High School pupil home.

It is understood his body was flown into Edinburgh on Wednesday.

Fundraising events were organised and a Facebook page was set up in his memory with more than 1,100 people signing up. It was thought that up to 15,000 would have to be raised to repatriate the body amid concerns James' basic travel insurance may not have covered quad-biking, potentially leaving his family with the bill.

His funeral will be held on 7 July at 2:15pm at Carrick Knowe Parish Church with burial at Saughton Cemetery.
