Body of missing pensioner is found

THE body of a missing pensioner has been discovered in a remote area just miles from his home.

Samuel "Sammy" MacDonald, 65, vanished from his home in Jeffrey Street, Lybster, Caithness, on Tuesday. He was last seen outside a village shop at 6pm.

Sixty members of the police, coastguard and mountain rescue teams took part in a search operation to find him.

A Northern Constabulary spokesman said a member of the public discovered MacDonald's body shortly before 9am yesterday.

His body was taken by the Wick Lifeboat to Wick and subsequently identified. Family members have been informed.
